I just ran across an interesting tidbit of information at Wikipedia.org. Wikipedia is one of those sites where you can just get lost for hours. Each page links to a bunch of new pages and you can follow link to link to link through an entire history of definitions and explanations.
One such link I ended up on today was about the Pledge of Allegiance. I was surprised to learn that the original pledge, written by Francis Bellamy in 1892, also included a salute with it. Today we commonly place our right hand over our heart but this is the modified version of the original salute, which required the reciter to fully extend the arm toward the flag much like the Nazi salute. After World War II the outstretched hand salute was changed to the current version.
Guess you learn something new everyday!

The early Pledge of Allegiance in fact WAS performed with the hard stylized palm down stiff armed salute and the Pledge was the origin of the salute of the National Socialist German Workers’ Party, as shown in the historical discoveries of the historian Dr. Rex Curry.

The United States originated Nazism, Nazi salutes, robotic group-chanting to flags, and the modern swastika, as shown by Dr. Curry. The bizarre acts in the USA began as early as 1875 and continued through the creation of the National Socialist German Workers’ Party (German Nazis or NSGWP). The NSGWP had clear roots in National Socialism promoted by socialists in the USA. Amazing graphic images that prove the point are at http://rexcurry.net/theosophy-madame-blavatsky-theosophical-society.html
The USA is still the worst example in the world of bizarre laws that require robotic chanting to a national flag in government schools (socialist schools) every day for 12 years.
It has changed generations of Americans who from libertarians to authoritarians. The government bamboozled individuals into believing that robotic group-chanting in government schools is a beautiful expression of freedom.
Wikipedia is notoriously unreliable and neo-nazis can post to that glorified bulletin board, and they delete information explaining (or even MENTIONING the topic of) how the USA was the origin of the notorious salute in order to keep people (such as yourself) from knowing the truth. Try it and see what happens. In that sense you have just been another victim of Wackipedia and the many Wikilings who post there.
